Four Sisters and Their Magic Yarn Shop

Hi to all from Marshmallow.

Dizzy’s off traveling the country, RoboDizzy needs a reboot, and Fred and the others have all gone on vacation - I get to present the site for this week!

So, let's sit around the campfire and I will tell you the story of Four Sisters and Their Magic Yarn Shop – it was my favorite bedtime story when I was a little bunny. Here goes …

It was a dark and stormy night --- wait, that’s not right - oops, wrong story, pardon me. Let’s start again …

It was a bright and sunny day!

Four sisters, Krista, Larissa, Sabrina and Veronica were avid knitters and spinners.  They all loved the way the fibers felt, looked and could be transformed into so many beautiful and practical items to be admired. They would knit or spin to create something useful or simply just for the enjoyment. To them yarn and fibers were creative materials – sometimes just to collect for their sheer wonderfulness. The world of fiber was simply part of their being – something that many could not truly understand.

On this day while the sisters were knitting, Krista wondered aloud how nice it would be have a shop and be able to share their love of all things fiber with others. What a wonderful idea the other sisters all exclaimed!

“It would be a place with many yarns and many fibers in many colors.”

"A selection second to none!"

“It would be a place that folks could come for help or lessons, or just to hang out with kindred souls.”

They wanted to create a very special shop with a special spirit, a magical shop, for all to enjoy. They decided, each and every one, to make it so!

And so the adventure began …

We will skip the boring part – the part that no adventure story ever describes, like creating a business plan, securing funding, establishing the location, obtaining inventory, etc, etc, etc. Of course these are the real challenges of any adventure – the ogres, the giants, the storms at sea, etc are the easy part!

So Krista, Larissa, Sabrina and Veronica were busy getting the shop ready to open: stocking shelves, placing ads, installing computers – so many, many details! It was a wonderful time, but as with all great endeavors, there was some uncertainty about where the path would lead and what adventures would be in store for them.

The day before the shop was to open an extraordinary woman came to the store. She introduced herself as Nadia and said that she was very experienced with knitting and yarn shops – she had handled many a skein of yarn in her time!

Nadia looked over the shop and was very impressed with what she saw and with the four sisters.  She decided to give them a special gift, a beautiful box, that she put on the counter.  Nadia told them that what was inside was magical and would help fulfill their dream.

The four sisters were admiring the attractive box and when they looked up to thank Nadia, she was gone! She seemed to have simply vanished! Who was she? Where did she go?

The sisters were puzzled indeed and simply looked at each other, not sure what to say or what to do next. Finally Veronica snapped them all back to reality and suggested that they open the box.

Sabrina carefully removed the wrapping paper and slowly lifted the top. They all peered in and were astonished to see …

What did they see?

You decide! Post a Comment to the Blaaag or use the Contact form - what do you think they saw:

  1. A glowing Classic Neon 80s Plum Pink Passion skein of yarn hovering in the air?
  2. A ceramic sheep with fuzzy wool and a cute smile?
  3. A stony, but somewhat friendly looking gargoyle?
  4. Nothing, the box was empty!

And the story will continue …

Nothing, the box was empty because it was the love the 4 sisters had for each other and fiber that was the magic to make their shop the best place in the world.

Why would they thank her for neon yarn? (unless this happened in the 60's)
The gargoyle would scare a lot of customers away.
Nothing - well then, why say "thanks for nothing!"
DEFINITELY the cute fluffy sheep for inspiration!!
