Goodbye 2012...

Auld Lang Syne?
Auld Lang Syne?

It's time to ring out the old...

It's been a wonderful year!

We had such a great time hosting the Ravelry Dizzy Sheep Groupies and we had lots of fun with our spin-offs spoofs on Indiana Jones and Star Trek.

Personally I got to go to Hong Kong and Trinidad - sorry Fred, maybe next time.

But best of all, we at DizzySheep.com want to thank you for being such wonderful customers and friends!

So ring in the new tonight with fun and celebration!

But be safe!

And what is an auld lang syne anyway?

When You Wish Upon a Starry

Oh it's so pretty and shimmery - like a magical glowing star!
Oh it's so pretty and shimmery - like a magical glowing star!

[A Dizzy Classic from October 14, 2009]

Twinkle twinkle little starry...

...

Ok, I was going to be cute and come up with a fun play on that classic rhyme, but I'm dizzy trying to come up with something that rhymes with "starry".

I mean "hairy" almost works, but aside from not quite rhyming I don't think Dream in Color Hairy sounds all that appealing.

So how about -

Twinkle twinkle little soft silvery yarn,

How we wondered when you'd arrive at our barn.

High upon the lists of our faithful followers,

Who shouldn't be reading this but placing their order-ers!

Eh close enough!

Smooshy or Snow?

Dreaming of Smooshy - not shoveling snow!
Dreaming of Smooshy - not shoveling snow!

[An appropriate Dizzy Classic from exactly two years ago today!]

It was a dark and stormy night ...

I was supposed to go out and shovel snow. I even have my nice red wool cap that Bizzy made me.

But I stopped on this soft and comfortable skein of Dream in Color Smoosy and it appears that I fell asleep - I mean I am still a bit tired from all the holiday tasks and cheer!

So here I am, asleep and having dreams of this wonderful yarn interrupted by nightmares of shoveling snow.

Hmmm… but wait, if I'm sleeping, how is this story getting typed? I must be sheep sleep typing!

So Much Snow!

Shoveling is snow joke
Shoveling is snow joke

Well, 10 feet of snow fell on Dizzy Central yesterday and I have been shoveling for hours!

Dizzy, there was only about a foot of snow.

Well, it seems like 10 feet Fred.

Dizzy, you haven't touched the shovel.

Well...

In fact Dizzy, all you've done is drink hot cocoa.

Well a shoveling sheep needs to keep up his energy.

Dizzy, you paid the neighborhood kids to shovel.

Well, Fred, my mother didn't raise any dumb sheep!

Send Out The Dogs!

Where's Dizzy?
Where's Dizzy?

This is your nameless, never seen narrator.

We had a big snow fall and Dizzy went out to play!

I'm not sure where Dizzy is now.

Oh, but here's Fred.

Fred have you seen Dizzy?

Well, Mr. Narrator, we're playing hide-n-go-seek outside in the new snow.  And it's Dizzy's turn to hide.

So why are you in here Fred?   Drinking hot cocoa?

Fred... why are you smirking?

Folks, if you see a snow covered sheep trying not to be seen, please send him home!

We Survived!

Black Friday Part II?
Black Friday Part II?

We survived the end of the world!

Yes indeed, holiday shopping is over!

What's that Fred?

Oh, today is "Black Friday Part II - The Return of the Three Hour Mall Traffic Jam" - apparently we didn't appease the commercial gods enough this shopping season?

Christmas, Hanukkah, Boxing Day and Kwanzaa - indeed this is the holiday season!

Regardless of what holidays you enjoy, our contribution to this time of happiness and joy today is Rowan Pure Wool Aran, because every day is a celebration at Dizzy Sheep!

Merry Christmas!

Where you a good little knitter this year?

Did Santa Sheep visit you and leave you woolly presents?

If he just ate all your cookies (it might have been Fred!) - here's some Malabrigo Arroyo just for you!

Twas the Night Before... Unfinished Projects

All wrapped up - we hope you enjoyed the 12 Dizzy Days!
All wrapped up - we hope you enjoyed the 12 Dizzy Days!

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the towns
All the knitters were knitting, but all with long frowns.
The socks were unfinished, the scarves were not done
With the thought that Christmas would come with the sun.

The children were sent to sleep into their beds,
While I sat and wondered, no cap to be Fred's!
And Bizzy with a sweater, yet to be complete,
We'd settled our brains for an undo-able feat.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I dropped my knitting to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
At such great speed that I knocked over my stash!

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a wise old knitter, smiling, with no fear.

This was a master knitter, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his stitches they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now cast on! now, purl two! now, knit one and purl three!
YO, five knits! YO, three purls! YO, knit two and purl thee
To the end of the row! To the spot of the mark!
Now casting off! Casting off! Casting off all!"

As fine soft wool before the fast spinning wheel flies,
When faced with a hard project, he looked for the prize.
So into my knit room, the knitter he flew,
With a bag full of yarns and many patterns too.

He looked at our projects and looked at the clock,
And then he said in a voice that did not mock,
"You might not be finished but do not despair
Spend time with your loved ones while you finish with care."

"The gift will be doubled, the joy will be more."
And away did he fly, right out the front door.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he left with that wit,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-knit!"

Peace to all!
Dizzy
