Provincetown Shawl Pin - these beautiful pins are handcrafted in Provincetown, MA by Richard Cuencas in a variety of designs, sizes and materials including brass, nickel, silver, copper, tumbled stones and irridescent marbles. Originally designed as barrettes, they make exceptionally beautiful shawl pins!
Please note that each pin is unique and the variant photos are representative of what you will receive. While no two pins are exactly alike, each is undeniably beautiful.
There are two types of shawl pins. One type is simply a shawl stick with an ornamental shape on one end made of the same metal as the stick itself or a marble wrapped in the same metal as the stick itself on one end. The other type is a loopy, swirly metal pin with or without a marble in the body of the design which includes a shawl stick in the same metal as the body of the pin. Variant colors, when they appear, refer to the color of the marbles in the pins that have them. Material specifies the metal used in each pin (nickel or brass).
Additional information about shawl sticks whether sold separately or included with each loopy, swirly pin: a description of "Loop" refers to the shape at one end of the shawl stick and Loop can be any shape from an oval to a circle, a description of "Circle" has a distinctive circle on one end of the shawl stick, a description of "Tri-Loop" has 3 loops on one end of the shawl stick, a description of "Heart" has a heart shape on one end of the shawl stick, a description of "Plain" means that each end of the shawl stick is simply tapered.
Non shawl stick shawl pins are variously, uniquely and beautifully loopy and swirly. Size descriptions refer to the loopy, swirly body of the shawl pins not counting the shawl stick that is included with each. Pins described as "Large" are approximately 5" long, pins described as "Medium" are approximately 4" long, and pins described as "Small" are approximately 3" long.
